Bioshock 2: Zillah Review
Bioshock 2
[Spoilers up ahead]
Story Value: 84
Story: So, you are now a big daddy, about 8 years have pasted and you're a OLD BIG DADDY. You love one little sister, (you figure out who she really is at the end) and Rapture is ran by a new woman. Eleanor Lamb. She has the one thing, that you need to life, and the story revolves around that, but, it's VERY complex. You encounter new people in rapture, and some old. Lamb uses the splicers, and tells them you are a threat trying to destroy the Rapture family. The city is filled on genes and genetically modifiying the body. But, some people use this too much, and are out of their mind. This substance, ADAM, is the "wonder drug" that allows people to modifiy their DNA's.
It my not sound like much, but, you'll love it once you play it.
Graphics: 77
Not the most mesmerizing thing, but, it'll look great. Sometimes, the water looks so pixelated, and, you can see the edges of peoples masks and clothing ; which gets it PRETTY ugly at times. However, the game is beautiful, and oolorful and has it's own spin.
So, it's not for people who need Killzone 2 or Alan Wake graphics.
Gameplay 95
Not perfect, but nothing you wouldn't want. The single player offers one of THE BEST campaigns this year. The story reels you in, but, the gameplay is so different and just great. The enemies are challenging, with the regular, leadhead(gun users) and thuggish(melee weapons) splicers. But, this game offers enemies that challenges you, and rewards preparation. The weapons are great, but, the spin that it has that other games doesn't not have are the Plasmids ; or magic if you will. But, not only that, they manage to balance it out great, and so many to choose from to match your style. But, the game also offers a multiplayer as good as and Halo game. Only, it's so balanced. This multiplayre is so heavy on teamwork and preparation. That's why iWish this multiplayer was more of a 15 vs 15 type of game. However, the multiplayer is still very solid.
Audio 98
The voice acting is so soild. The characters have the correct voices playing them. Eleanor Lamb is targeting you and talking about you over the PA, the enemies make noises to scare you as they come around the corner, the soundtrack is perfectly fit to this old time, underwater city (1968). The music bulids around the atmosphere, and is perfect.
In the end, i'd give this game a 94.
If you need something to get away from your average FPS such as Battlefield or Modern Warfare 2, but still as great, this i'll get the job done.
The campaign is also MUCH BETTER than the campaign in Modern Warfare 2, and it is very entertaining.
Not a MUST buy, but very worthy, the next FPS list and this should be #1.
As far as renting, don't look further.
