Well it depends on how you look at it. For single player, it would probably go to the PS3. But the 360 definitely has a more hardcore multiplayer audience.

Im well aware of that but CoD is the most popular fps there is and mlg is doing there events for the newest one on the ps3. Theres more hardcore FPS on the ps3 if you wanna go that route.

Lol....hardcore... Black Ops is not that.

While it might not be "Hardcore" in a general public match sense any MLG game is...What I mean is playing the best players in a game is "Hardcore" gaming... Not just FPS but SSB, Pokemon and anything multiplayer is hardcore gaming if you play the hardcore gamers on that game. :/ if that makes sense...

Anyway the reason MLG picked Black Ops for the PS3 because Sony became a major sponsor for MLG and is even paying out the total 25k prize pool for the first online Black Ops event. Although it has been confirmed that any MLG events would be picked up for PS3, Treyarch must patch their LAN system to allow players more time to get in the lobby or it won't be picked up at all, Treyarch have said they would do this...
