Hirai believes PS3 can out sell PS2

I don't think it can outsell the PS2 but it will reach the 100 million mark in the 10 year life cycle.

i think in ps3's entire lifetime sales it may reach 70 million

I dont think it will reach the PS2. The PS2 sold amazingly well.

I agree, the PS2 just exploded in popularity. I agree with tahmidk's guess of around 70 million, but i suppose it all depends on how long Sony will support the system for.

I think PS3 will break 100 million in it's lifetime. Like Reaper said, it's a lot more advanced then the PS2 and can stay on the market for even longer. Even after it's old and outdated in US/EU/JP, it will just be hitting a lot of opening markets in Asia and South America.

If they support it for as long as they did with the PS2 I have no doubts about 70 mil

Thats freaking insane, I no the PS2 sales went from earth to space but 140 MILLION ?

Daam, Sony has some high excpectations thses days.

But aggreeing Reaper & Invincible the system is very advanced and should/will do very good to reach the 100 Million mark..

Maybe he has a special plan for the PS3?

Not gonna happen, but it might get close.
