Zillah Review: Castle Crashers
Released: (PSN) August 31st, 2010. FINALLY. (Live) Some time in 08.
Dev: The Behemoth
Genre: Action-RPG (I prefer Beat-Em-Up)
Single Player/Multi-Player (4 players) Local & Online.
Story Value: 70
Let's see:
Go save 4 princesse's and a stolen giant gem/crystal. Very generic. Nothing special.
Graphics: 95
Castle Crashers offers a very special Art-Style that (at least for me), takes time to appreciate.
Yeah. You can tell it started off as a computer game, but the game looks nice nonetheless. Even when a lot is going on, the framerate doesn't slow down, the game remains to look good. Colors are very bright/saturated, ; overall, looks great.
Gameplay: 92
The only complaint I have with this game, is that when you play online, you get weapons/animals/exp, etc,.
But, you don't advance, as in levels. You have to be the host or play locally to advance. This is good, and bad. If this was your next level, then you should be able to complete it locally too. But everything else is perfect. This game is moderately challenging, especially Single Player. What makes this great is that you can play ONLINE ; Which is always fun. A GREAT F*CKING array of characters, some are very similar, but it's more than plenty. A hell alot of weapons. A lot. I can't even exaggerate that.
Enemies are repetitive too, sometimes (except for special enemies). Combos, magic, makes this fun every time.
Audio: 90
Very nice music, and you'll sing them out loud or in your head, ALL DAY.
Although, the computer thing applies again. You can kinda hear this 'computer' sound effects feel, if you know what i'm talking about.
Not bad, it's just that you might get caught off guard.
Replay Value: 94
Playing this online, you will only see people that are over 9000 levels over you and you will get there.
And then, one sitting = 14 more. This game never gets old.
In the end, this game gets a 96 from me. For 15 bucks, you better save up for this if you don't have it and add it to the list.
