Why does Sony overprice UK Customers for PlayStation Products?

This has concerned me for some time.

I noticed Sony have overpriced the PS3 in the UK on a few occasions.

1st: PS3 60GB premium model at launch (£425). Uk Customers.

US Customers PS3 60GB premium model ($600).

£425= $800. Initially the PS3 was supposed to be £316. But Sony overpriced it for the UK

Another one PS3 Slim September 2009:

PS3 Slim UK price (£250)

PS3 Slim US price ($300)

£250= $380. For it to be fair Sony should have priced the Slim in the UK at £200. Which equals $300.

Now here's the funny thing. Microsoft doesn't overcharge UK customers they price it fair, here's 2 examples.

Xbox 360 (Launch 20GB Model) UK Price £280.

Xbox 360 (Launch 20GB Model) US Price $400.

£280= $400. Fair Price.

Xbox 360 Slim (250GB)

£200 UK Price

$300 US Price.

That's quite equal.

This could be the reason why Xbox 360 is selling more than the PlayStation 3 in the UK.

Also im not complainig or anything. Im just saying the prices are quite off.

Yea, Ive heard that Sony overcharges in Australia too.

Its worse in mexico, when the ps3 launched they came out at about $975 for the 20GB model

It's pretty bad in Australia as well.

Because in the uk you can get the software almost for free. All my friends import games from the UK, because they only cost half as much over there.
Software and hardware are f****** expensive in the €-zone.

I think it's something to do with the country's laws and not Sony. Australia charges $120 for a video game because their government thinks it's bad and doesn't want people buying them.

That can't be because in the UK. We have a certain BBFC rating (British Board Film Classification). Just like the ESRB rating in the US. British Government allow violent video games on the market. Only if it's rated "15" or "18", to how much violence, blood/gore is in it. Games don't get censored like they do in Australia, and Australia get many games banned due to the violence. Only 1 game was ever banned in the UK, which was Manhunt on the PS2 due to a few school murders and how violent it was the BBFC banned it. For a certain amount of time.
