All of these things have been done on the PC beforehand. I love how they mention the fact that the PS2 required a $30-$40 adapter while neglecting to mention the $50/yr. you had to shell out for Xbox LIVE.

There are pros and cons for both the Ps2 Network Adaptor and XBL, the most obvious being that the PS2 adaptor was a one-time purchase, you didnt need to suscribe every year.
However XBL is a service with extra features and access to trailers and what not, the PS2 adaptor was just that...an adaptor.
I do miss PS2 online though, BF2:MC....epic times

Free Online Gaming
While the competition charge's $50.00, Sony offers free online play to anyone with a PS3 console
Choices Hard Drive
While Micro$oft had a good idea to let Xbox 360 owners save game files without the need for a memory card, Sony had a much better idea with their PS3 and letting its users use any hard drive they like. PS3 users can literally have a multi-terrabite HDD.
Trophies
While Microsoft added one very nice feature to all of their games, achievements, Sony perfected it. Although it took until 2009, all games released for PS3 must support trophies. With Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum trophies, Sony's system is much more rewarding.

$50 for what?
Busting the bars that refrain you from online and XGC?

Re: How Microsoft changed the gaming industry
I know it's not that much, but $30 is even less, and the article made a big deal out of that. I'm not going to go around screaming "fanboy article", but they could have at least mentioned the online fee since they mentioned the online adapter.Kendo wrote:50 dollars=Not that much.ŦЯӺ wrote:All of these things have been done on the PC beforehand. Let's see, to play video games online?
That's a lot.
There's extra features, like Cross Game/Party. But 50 bucks for online games? I'm a student in school, I just wanna play games for fun.
