Sledgehammer Games Working on Next "Call of Duty" Title
For a while, we've known multiple Call of Duty titles have been in development, and one rumor pegged Sledgehammer Games as one of the developers.
Activision hasn't made anything official just yet but most figure we're getting Modern Warfare 3 from Infinity Ward later this year. However, it now seems clear Sledgehammer is indeed working on a CoD entry of their own: according to a new job listing for Sledgehammer Games, the new studio is definitely cranking on something fresh for the CoD franchise. The job listing is for a Community Manager, and asks if applicants would "like the chance to build and drive the studio community management effort for Sledgehammer and the next Call of Duty game." Well, that's pretty clear. So does this mean we get MW3 and some sort of CoD spin-off or sub-franchise this year? For the record, Sledgehammer was actually created by Activision back in 2009; it's headed up by Glen Schofield and Michael Condrey, both of whom worked on the original Dead Space for EA. So while the name may sound new to you, Sledgehammer has seasoned veterans in-house.
It's probably too much to hope that whatever they're working on will be a significant departure from the series - you know, something different - but even so, we'll be interested to hear the official announcement.

They were just formed recently, but they're headed by two big shots from Visceral Games, who made Dead Space and Dante's Inferno.Zillah wrote:What other games has sledgehammer done?

Dante's Inferno was a great game.
Sure it was inspired by God of War but who the fuck cares...*cough*other than raging GOW fanboys.

Yeah . . . no. Also, it's more than just "inspired" by God of War. It's a complete copy in terms of the combat. Dante's Inferno is unoriginal in its story and gameplay.MEGAlan wrote:Dante's Inferno was a great game.
Just an FYI, Visceral Games made three James Bond games last gen, all of The Godfather games, The Simpsons Game, as well as Dead Space: Extraction. Hopefully that talent transfers to Sledgehammer Games. Hopefully they didn't get the guys who were more prominent in Dante's Inferno's development.

I kinda Agree, and I kinda don't.TRF wrote:Yeah . . . no. Also, it's more than just "inspired" by God of War. It's a complete copy in terms of the combat. Dante's Inferno is unoriginal in its story and gameplay.MEGAlan wrote:Dante's Inferno was a great game.
The first part of the game I thought was really original and over the top. In the Circle of Lust, you climb a Giant Penis shaped tower fighting off whores and a 50ft tall Woman whom is Half naked and has nipples that produce Dead Babies! that is fucking messed up!
However, once you get past Gluttony, the rest of the game just boils down to typical GOW style enemies, boss fights, and puzzles.
It just doesn't have enough originality to separate itself from God of War.
