The Official "Prince of Persia HD Collection" Thread

The release of high definition Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia trilogies looks increasingly likely following the appearance of a new set of retailer listings on the internet.

Zavvi lists both HD Collections on its site: the Splinter Cell Trilogy and the Prince of Persia Trilogy, with an RRP of 30 quid. Both games are available to pre-order.

Zavvi has the Splinter Cell Trilogy down for release on 26th November 2010, and the Prince of Persia Trilogy slated for a 11th March 2011 launch. Both games are only listed for the PlayStation 3.

The news follows the appearance of both games on the French version of Amazon last month.

The first three Splinter Cell games were 2002's Splinter Cell; 2004's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow; and 2005's Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory.

The Prince of Persia trilogy may refer to the Sands of Time Trilogy, which featured PlayStation 2 games released between 2003 and 2005.

Sources told Eurogamer that publisher Ubisoft "may be launching" what are described as "collections skus" in 2010 - in the same way Sony released the God of War Collection earlier this year - although our sources are yet to hear official word.

"Prince of Persia" and "Splinter Cell" HD Titles Coming to North America

The Prince of Persia Trilogy HD scheduled to ship exclusively in Europe of a PlayStation 3 Blu-ray disc is also coming to PlayStation Network as individual titles.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones, and Prince of Persia: Warrior Within will be available for download on PSN this coming holiday. Pricing details were not announced.

CEO Yves Guillemot also confirmed on the publisher's earnings call this morning it will release HD remakes of the first three Splinter Cell titles, but did not provide further details.

Ubisoft previously announced it will release a remake of the original Beyond Good & Evil in 2011.

Why the hell are Sony not releasing hard copies of the PoP trilogy in NA? I'm alomost certain fans of the games would prefer having the 3 games on one disc, instead of using almost 25-30 GBs of their HDD.

(I'm basing my assumption it will be that big on the fact GoW 1-2 are almost 20 GB on PSN)

Prince of Persia: Sands of Time HD Release Date

Yesterday, Ubisoft announced that the PlayStation 2 Prince of Persia titles -- Sands of Time, Warrior Within and Two Thrones -- would be making their way to the PlayStation Network in glorious HD. This was a big deal because previously these remastered games were only available in the United Kingdom and on a disc (like the God of War Collection). Trouble was that no date was given for when they'd be showing up on the PSN.

What a difference a day makes -- Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time will be hitting the PlayStation Store today for $14.99. That's a pretty impressive turnaround time and leaves us to wonder when exactly the next installments will be added to Sony's digital storefront; Ubisoft says they will come sometime in December.
