Beta or Demo?

I had no idea where to put this but...WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE!?!?!

Betas are timed segments of a game's multiplayer and is used to get feedback from the consumer, demos are just a business attempt to get ppl to buy their game.

Betas are generally unfinished, and are often reserved to specific people. Demos are closer to being finished, and are generally available to everyone. The reason why betas are more exclusive and demos are available to everyone, well . . . Freemon basically explained it.

There few phases of software development

Pre-Alpha - inmature version of a software, not yet ready to do testing
Alpha - inmature version of a software, still lot of targets to done, that started testing process (unpublic or public)
Beta - Most features ready and most targets are done in this version software, usally means public but don't need to, game developers for Public Bata usually do limited version of the game, this might be the reason why you don't see difference between demo
RC (Release candidate) - As name say candidate final product, still need final testing and checks, if everything is fine it goes as final release.

Demo - is a limited version of a software when product is done to show how product work without giving full version of a software... to make you buy one :p
